Peter Bonanno, M.Ed.

I design, teach, and scale programs that help people develop personal and interpersonal skills—especially mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and leadership. I bring over 15 years of experience creating learning experiences for some of the world’s most influential organizations, combining evidence-based methods, enjoyable learning experiences, and engaging facilitation.

I am energized by entrepreneurial environments, having been a co-founder or founding team member of seven organizations and initiatives. I’m skilled at navigating ambiguity, creating clarity and structure, and collaborating with a flexible, “all hands on deck” mindset to move ideas from vision to reality.

I believe that each person holds inherent goodness and unique potential to contribute to a better world. The most effective personal and leadership development helps people tap into their innate strengths and remove the barriers that prevent the fullest expression of their genius.

Online Summit for Humanitarian Workers Facing Disruption

Humanitarian workers are facing stressors from global funding and political changes. How can we find resilience and purpose during these times?

Organized “Bridge of Hope 2025,” a free global online summit for humanitarian workers facing disruption.

Moderated conversations and interviews on the topics of resilience, purpose, and reimagining the future of humanitarian work with 13 leaders in the humanitarian space for 250+ registrants from 39 countries.

Building Connection Skills

In a world of increasing social isolation and disconnection, how can we rebuild our connection skills?

Designed 8-week online training program for emotional intelligence and interpersonal connection skills, based on the work of acclaimed social neuroscientist Prof. Dr. Tania Singer, using an innovative peer-to-peer self-reflection practice called a “Dyad” conducted over an app. Program led to statistically significant improvements in resilience, well-being, interpersonal connection, and emotional intelligence skills.

Designed and instructed six month train-the-trainer program to certify 40 international facilitators.

Building Resilience & Peacemaking skills for United Nations Staff

UN staff do important peace-building work, but face stress, conflict, and uncertainty.

Designed and taught Peace on Purpose training, bringing mindfulness-based resilience and well-being skills to all levels of United Nations staff.

Designed and taught train-the-trainer program to scale Peace on Purpose throughout the United Nations system.

Trained network of over 1,000 Mindfulness & Emotional Intelligence Teachers

From a small seed of an idea at Google came a big dream: to bring the benefits of mindfulness & emotional intelligence to workplaces around the world.

Designed and taught train-the-trainer program for Search Inside Yourself, a two-day training in mindfulness & emotional intelligence to help leaders navigate a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world.

SIY has been taught in 50 countries to over 100,000 participants.

Rolling Out Mindfulness & Emotional Intelligence Skills Nationally in Bhutan

Bhutan has a deep history of contemplative practice and focus on well-being. Its Ministry of Education sought new ways to help teachers & children build resilience and emotional intelligence.

Collaborated with Bhutanese Ministry of Education to bring mindfulness and emotional intelligence programs to all 10,000 of the country’s primary and secondary school teachers, by training and certifying 120 Bhutanese trainers.
